Slashdot Extreme Makeover

Slashdot.org, the best tech news community out there, has succumbed to the Wordpress/Drupal-fication of their user interface, with nice faded banners, slick type and CSS features. I’m not sure it was needed, but it’s bound to be seriously debated by the geek community. Here’s just a taste

One very simple but important change – no more unnecessary Italic fonts! Hate that – now it’s so much better!

It’s sad to see everything getting web2.0-ified, with rounded corners and gradients. I have to say that the interface is actually much cleaner than it used to be, though.

Still, they could have done this without, as you say, succumbing to Drupal-fication. I’m all for slick fonts and better colour schemes.

It’s the rounded corners that are beginning to bore me to no end.
