The frst shipping units of the MacBook Pro are making it to people. ZDNet has some shots. Some early observations show:
- A very large 85 watt power supply. The MagSafe technology is cool, but this is about the size of the Airport Express wireless device.
- A brighter screen
- A wider trackpad, more like the Powerbook 17″.
Still no good information on:
- Battery life – Because of Steve Jobs’s vague references to it, folks are worried that this model may not run very long untethered. Steve says about the same as the current Powerbook 15″, which I never found very good.
- Wifi Reception – There are reports that the hinge of the MacBook Pro is rubberized, perhaps indicating a new location for the 802.11b/g antenna. I can only pray that the reception is better than the PowerBook 15″ with its two “ear†antenna next to the screen, which were notorioiusly poor performers.
